Dolce & Gabbana Will Sell Perfume for Babies Because Infants Don't Smell Delicious Enough

Ask folks to name the greatest scents on the planet, and you're bound to hear anwers like freshly baked cinnamon rolls, lilacs in full bloom and, most definitely, baby smell.

So, why, on God's green earth, would Dolce & Gabbana think marketing a perfume for children would be a good idea? The U.K.'s Grazia reports Stefano Gabbana, of the Italian design house known for its sexy styles, posted a photo on Instagram of a fragrance box adorned with a cherub, writing "per I bambini!!!" (That's "for the children," our online language translator tells us.)

According to the magazine, the perfume is unisex, "mimics the smell of a baby's skin" and is "designed to cuddle and pamper every little boy and girl." Okay, so never mind that many scents can be irritating to a baby's sensitive skin. And we get that some poopy diapers can be serious stinkers before you change them. What we can't quite wrap our heads around is why you would pay to spray your baby with baby smell. Isn't that like spritzing a cinnamon roll with cinnamon essential oil? Or a lilac bush with lilac perfume? Babies smell delicious enough on their own. And if you want to mimic that scent after they've grown? A bottle of baby lotion will cost ya $3.99.
