"Go to a good running store and be properly fitted for shoes. They're not only worth it, but really mandatory. You can run in an old t-shirt, but you will be sorry if you don't get fitted for good shoes." -tess2009
How she found The Running Woman board: "I found this board in February of 2009. I've been a runner since I was a teenager, so that is 20 plus years. I don't remember how I found the board. I think I heard about iVillage and thought, 'Maybe they have something about running. I'll just check.' and I happened upon it. My lucky day.
The best part of being a member: "[Finding the board] came on the heels of a lot of drama in my life at the time. My marriage, losing my dad and a traumatic accident involving my son. Running was the best way to deal with it. I wasn't looking for running advice, I was looking for running accountability--someone to whom I had to say, 'I'm going to run today.' But more importantly, I found an unbelievable group of friends. It's our comfortable place. Our safety zone. I love them. We worry about each other, we pray for each other; we laugh at each other and we encourage each other. Because we have all been there."
