The poisoned apple has moved beyond Snow White and into Halloween -- haven't we all heard the stories of poison, razors and pins in the trick-or-treat candy? And that some hospitals will X-ray your loot to ensure that it’s metal free?
The truth: While we can’t make a 100 percent guarantee, we’re pretty sure your child’s candy will be pin- and poison free -- the (very) few documented cases of tainted candy in the past few decades have been perpetrated by people who knew the intended victims, and who were hoping to hide their crimes under the guise of this old legend. It certainly doesn’t hurt to spot-check the candy, but don’t make yourself sick with worry about this.
