I was so excited to be a part of the launch of iVillage Food. Created to serve busy woman and busy moms, this site will be the first to help families gather together for an evening around the dinner table. iVillage presented some incredible statistics about the amount of time women spend shopping and preparing food for their families.
When I was a little girl, I spent my summers in the small town in Italy where my mother was born. I remember everyday women gathering in the town square to exchange recipes and talk with each other. Now this online portal is a way for the modern woman to do the same. iVillage has created a platform to not only share recipes, but also suggest tips and modifications via the ‘Twist Tool.’
Another fantastic feature is the ‘Kitchen View Tool.’ Now you never need to print another recipe again. Bring your laptop right into the kitchen with you and see recipes step-by-step!
At the launch event I demonstrated how to make homemade pasta—a fun, family activity that isn’t as difficult as you may think. I paired that with a Sunday Ragu—a quick version of my mother’s sauce that takes an entire day to make. With my twist, you can have a hearty, flavorful ragu in under an hour!
For dessert I made my Aunt Donata’s ricotta cheesecake. This incredibly simple dessert is all made in one pot, so there is very little cleanup and the cake is delicious and light.
I always love to serve a signature cocktail when I have a dinner party or family occasion. I created a versatile drink that can be made with or without alcohol, so children and adults can enjoy it just the same.
All the delicious recipes I made at the event can be found on the new iVillage site. I hope you make these recipes and many more with your families!
