'Off the Wall' Is Released, 1979


While he was still a member of The Jackson 5, teenage Michael Jackson released four solo albums with Motown Records. But it wasn't until 1979’s Off the Wall, produced by Quincy Jones, that Michael took full creative control of his solo career. "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" was the album's first single. The song and its accompanying video gave a glimpse at Michael Jackson as we know him: his unique vocal tics and dance style, his distinct falsetto voice, and even some unexpected sex appeal.
