Dora skirted the Ch-word in her most recent holiday-time specials Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom and Dora Saves the Snow Princess, but this year she goes full-Christmas with Dora's Christmas Carol Adventure, premiering on TV on Sunday, December 6 at 8p (although it’s already out on DVD). The show’s theme song will be performed by the Young People's Chorus of New York City.
How does the story of A Christmas Carol play out in in Click-Me-Dora Land? Well, it starts with the mildly evil Swiper landing on Santa’s naughty list after trying to swipe the Christmas Star from Dora’s Nochebuena (Christmas Eve) Party. Dora must help Swiper "travel to the past, the present, and the future to discover the true spirit of Christmas." (Which means swiping Menorah candles might still be a-ok.)
Charles Dickens must be dizzy in his grave.
Nick is giving the special its big-stocking treatment, including a CD with 16 holiday songs (including everyone's favorite "Santa Claus Is Coming Aqui!"), online videos and games, and mobile features for all those five-year-olds with cellphones -- or parents trying to keep their kids busy while grocery shopping.
Will all of this Big Orange activity cause a rethinking of St. Nick when it comes to holiday festivity? Note to Santa: Check in with your publicist.
