Dr. Oz Special to Focus on Our Collective Post-Traumatic Stress after the Newtown Tragedy

Today's Dr. Oz Show is dedicated to helping the nation cope after Friday's school shooting

No matter how far removed you were from the school shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, it’s normal to be deeply affected by the news – and to experience painful and potentially dangerous stress symptoms. Today, Dr. Oz will tape a special show dedicated to helping us cope with the unthinkable.

On top of the physical manifestations of stress, the emotional, psychological and spiritual toll is also great and crisis counseling and other resources are necessary, even for people who are far removed from the actual events.

“We stand in solidarity as a nation with those who are suffering so deeply in Newtown,” said Dr. Mehmet Oz. “We will devote Monday’s show to an open discussion to come together and heal as a country and support one another to discuss the healthiest ways to deal with this unspeakable tragedy – physically, emotionally and spiritually.”

On Friday, Meredith Vieira spoke with Dr. Oz about the tragedy and how she felt as both a Mom and a journalist. Watch the video here and check your local listings for today’s show scheduled to air this afternoon.
