Psychologist Dr. Phil Mcgraw (pictured here on Jan. 25, 2008 celebrating his 1,000th episode) wasn't a practicing doctor when Oprah Winfrey met him; he was in the business of helping lawyers pick juries. But when the 6'4" Texan joined her legal team during her suit by the beef industry, Winfrey was inspired by his tough-talking, common sense advice. She invited him to be a guest on the show, and before long he was appearing weekly as Oprah's resident "Relationship and Life Strategy Expert." Soon everyone seemed to be using McGraw's catchphrases "get real" and "how's that workin' for you?" In 2002, McGraw launched his own daytime TV show, Dr. Phil, produced by Winfrey's Harpo Studios.
