Drake isn't interested in making nice with Chris Brown. The Canadian rapper, 26, has been Brown's rival for Rihanna's affections over the years, and had a nasty altercation with him in a bar last year. But unlike most of the music industry, Drake doesn't care about staying on Brown's good side. In a Friday night interview with East Village Radio's Elliott Wilson, Drake aired his feelings about the so-called feud.
"I just feel like, man, for any media outlet that listens to this interview: Don't ask me s**t about that man when I come up there. Leave that man alone. Stop preying on his insecurities," Drake said of Brown. "His insecurities are the fact that I make better music than him, that I'm more poppin' than him. And that at one point in life, the woman that he loves fell into my lap. I did what a real n****a would do: I treated her with respect, so she's not up there talking down on me."
That's right: Drake said that if Brown was a real man, he would be treating Rihanna with respect. We've heard this before (heck, we've said it before), but it's refreshing to finally hear it from someone within the hip-hop community!
Even better, Drake called out Brown's uncontrollable temper for what it really is -- a giant bundle of insecurities. Yet he said he's not interested in trashing Chris Brown for the sake of trashing him.
"It shouldn't be about tearing that man down; it shouldn't be about wanting to see me and him to tear each other down," said Drake. "We have an issue, and it's either going to drag out, or maybe in 10 years, we're going to laugh about it over drinks."
Brown, it seems, is already laughing about it; after the Drake interview aired, the "Fine China" singer tweeted the word "Lol."
Even though Drake was being diplomatic, he couldn't resist a matter-of-fact dig at Brown's new record.
"I don't want to hear that man rap. Nobody wants to hear me rap against him," Drake declared. "I really do this s**t. Let him put out that, whatever, 'Project X' or whatever that s**t he's working on and I'm going to put out that real s**t for the people. I'm good...My life is great."
