Her incarnation as Mafia moll Adriana La Cerva on the hit series The Sopranos earned Drea de Matteo an Emmy, a Golden Globe nomination and a huge fan following, but since her character got whacked this year, she's earning even greater accolades as the sexy sister on the new Friends spin-off, Joey. Either way, we love her sultry style. Ranked one of the sexiest women in the world by Stuff magazine, her smoldering looks make her a red-carpet favorite. She wears her hair medium length and wavy ‑- and whatever the style, it's always feminine. Here, New York City-based stylist Eliut Rivera of Madison Avenue's EM Studio tells you how to get this look.
STEP 1 Apply a palmful of mousse to damp hair, work through and blow-dry hair, using a large round brush. Pull the hair straight as you heat it, but don't aim for stick-straight. You don't need to start with completely straight hair for this look.
STEP 2 Once the hair is dry, apply a pea-size amount of serum for extra shine and to fend off flyaways. Divide the hair into small sections and roll each section onto a large hot roller or Velcro roller. Do not roll hair to the crown of the head. Instead, place the roller one-quarter of the way down the section of hair; then roll the hair below around it.
STEP 3 If your hair doesn't hold waves well, spray it with a holding spray while the curlers are in and run a hair dryer over your head for a few minutes.
STEP 4 Unroll your hair from the rollers after 15 to 20 minutes. Don't brush the hair; lightly run your fingers through the curls to separate them.
STEP 5 Take a section of hair from the forehead area and twist it a little as you pull it to the side. Pin the section in place with a small barrette. Here, Drea has pulled the length of her soft curls in front of and over her shoulder.
