This is a recurring dream: I’m driving, either on a road or freeway, and it’s raining hard. I can’t see any of the lane markings or anything around me, but I keep driving. It’s not like I’m blind. I can see the rain, the windshield wipers and the inside of the car, but I can’t tell if I’m going to run off the side of the road or hit another car. I just keep driving and never get anywhere. -- cl-mollmae
Recurring dreams indicate a persistent attitude or issue that never gets resolved, something that frustrates us and pushes us to keep trying to find a resolution. To drive a car symbolizes our ability to be masters of our own fate. It’s how we experience life. A car is our chariot and, like the Chariot in tarot cards, it is the vehicle our soul uses to drive us on to our purpose. This dream seems to indicate that you are going about your life in a very sad and depressed way. Rain indicates that there are lots of emotions raining down on you. A rainy day is sad and quiet and very inner-bound. And yet you have to go out and drive through it!
All of us have been there at one time or another. Women go through days determined to show up regardless of how they feel. This is what men have learned to do every day -- mostly because they have had to repress their feelings.
Women don’t have that option. We feel everything. So, arguably, we have it worse. In our working world, women have to play by masculine rules. It doesn’t matter how we feel; we have to show up. And perhaps we don’t show up at our best because we’re not acknowledging our feelings.
The dream indicates that you never get anywhere. Where do you want to go? That’s the question. You keep driving your car instead of going home and curling up in front of a fire! That’s where you can begin to imagine a different life. Go for it!
Good luck and sweet dreams!
