PHOTO: Kate Middleton Makes First Post-Hospital Appearance

Dressed in a forest-green gown, the pregnant duchess looked healthy and radiant at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards

In her first public appearance since leaving the hospital for extreme morning sickness, the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out to honor Team Great Britain on Sunday.

Dressed in a gorgeous floor-length green frock by her favorite designer, Alexander McQueen, the pregnant princess, 30, attended the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards London on Dec. 16.

"We're so delighted to be joined by Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge," host Gary Lineker told the audience at the ExCeL arena, People reports.

The former Kate Middleton smiled as thousands of attendees applauded her attendance. She then proceeded to present one of the UK's most distinguished athletes, Lord Sebastian Coe -- who led the 2012 Olympics -- with his lifetime achievement award.

The Duchess remained on stage with Coe, with whom she exchanged some congratulatory remarks, and then handed out another award to the year's top athlete: Tour de France winner and Olympic gold medalist, cyclist Bradley Wiggins. As Wiggins accepted his award, Kate also took the opportunity to chat with the award's runner-up, gold medalist heptathlete Jessica Ennis, who also looked lovely in a stunning red gown at the event.

"A decision wasn't made until the very last minute due to Catherine's health," a source told Us Weekly of Middleton making an appearance at the awards. "She doesn't feel well enough to carry out a lengthy engagement but was determined to pay tribute to [Team GB sportsmen and women]."
