Duchess Sarah Ferguson is finding herself front and center in a new scandal: Ferguson, 50, was caught on video accepting a bribe of $750,000 in exchange for access to her ex-husband, Britain's special representative for international trade and investment, Prince Andrew, son of Queen Elizabeth II.
"If you want to meet him in your business, look after me and he'll look after you…you'll get it back tenfold," Ferguson says to an undercover reporter from News of the World. "That opens up everything you would ever wish for. And I can open any door you want. And I will for you."
US Weekly notes that the undercover reporter -- posing as a business tycoon -- is asked for $40,000 in cash and $720,000 by wire transfer, with the promise that he'll be able to meet Prince Andrew.
Ferguson (or, as she's known the world over, Fergie) goes on to say Prince Andrew knew of the deal (allegedly, he didn't). "He knows that he's had to underwrite me up to now because I've got no money," she says. She also says in the video that her royal ex-husband is "amazing" and that they're "the happiest divorced couple in the world." She and Andrew married in 1986, had two children (Beatrice, 21, and Eugenie, 20) and divorced in 1996.
Fergie's money woes have been following her before this alleged bribery scandal broke, as she has reportedly lost millions in business ventures over the years. In a statement, Ferguson expressed her regret. "I very deeply regret the situation and the embarrassment cause," she said. "It is true that my financial situation is under stress. However, that is no excuse for a serious lapse in judgment, and I am very sorry that this has happened. I can confirm that the Duke of York was not aware or involved in any of the discussions that occurred."
