According to TMZ.com, Ward, 35, was pulled over in Dekalb County, Georgia, after cops witnessed his Aston Martin failing to stay in its lane and hitting a curb. Ward reportedly went on to fail a field sobriety test and refused to take a breathalyzer test.
He was arrested and then released on $1,000 bond. Yet a rep for Hines insists his client was not drunk at the time of the arrest.
"From our preliminary investigation we can tell you that we are confident that the facts will show that Hines was NOT impaired by alcohol while driving," the rep told UsMagazine.com. "However, Hines is deeply saddened by this incident and apologizes to his fans and the Steelers organization for this distraction."
Hines took home the DWTS mirror ball trophy on season 12 of the show, after he and partner Kym Johnson beat out the other two finalists, Chelsea Kane and Kirstie Alley.
