LAMB'S EARS, 'SILVER CARPET'
Latin name: Stachys byzantina
Loved for its gray-green, velvety leaves, this is one of the hardiest Stachys we've seen. Lamb's ears are in the mint family and thus easily grown in average garden soil. Many gardeners remove the flowers from lamb's ears because they feel it detracts from the striking foliage. You won't have to with this form, because silver carpet does not produce a flower.
PLANTING TIME:Spring, early to mid autumn
ZONES:3 through 9
WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT THIS PLANT:The deer won't touch it
