In today’s edition of Sad News About Forgotten Celebrities, Edward Furlong, that adorable kid from Terminator 2 who went on to be a minor teen heartthrob, is in hospital lockdown after threatening suicide.
This news comes courtesy of Furlong’s ex-wife Rachael Kneeland. Kneeland was recently granted a restraining order against the actor, on the grounds that he'd been abusive toward her: "(He) grabbed me, bruised me, pushed me, made threats of more violence, left messages saying he would hire people to come and beat me with chains and bats," she said in papers granted in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by Access Hollywood.
Kneeland, who has a 3-year-old son with Furlong, blames his behavior on a heavy cocaine addiction. The actor has a history of substance abuse, and was allegedly fired from three separate films -- including Terminator 3 in 2003 – for unpredictable behavior stemming from drug problems. He also has a record of drunk driving arrests and rehab stints.
Furlong, however, has denied any recent drug use, issuing a statement that he’s been sober for five years and claiming that his ex-wife's allegations are simply fodder for an ongoing custody battle. Ouch. Either way, could somebody please get Dr. Drew on the phone?
