Shape
Portia de Rossi apparently likes her wife, talk-show host and American Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres, with some meat on her bones!
In the May issue of Shape, the comedian says that de Rossi (Ally McBeal, Arrested Development, Better Off Ted) puts no pressure on DeGeneres to watch her weight.
"She loves me no matter what," Degeneres said. "Whenever I feel bad about myself, or if I’m in a period where I’m not working out, she’s constantly telling me that she doesn’t notice, that I look beautiful. She’ll say, ‘I think you could gain 10 more pounds.’ She would rather have me heavier than thinner, and she really hates that I ever doubt myself. She loves how I look. She wants me to be happy and never think about it.”
De Rossi knows what it's like to wage a battle with the scale; she has fought eating disorders in the past and is currently writing a book about her struggles.
As for her own health, DeGeneres, 52, says she's been active since she was a kid, burning calories by playing sports, which kept her from being lonely in her younger years.
“I was very much a tomboy. I loved sports, running around, playing tennis
Now the talk-show host is exploring meditation and yoga. “I first started doing power yoga in L.A., which really makes no sense. Power yoga? It’s the opposite of what it should be. Yoga should calm you down!”
And when she's not pursuing a fitness regimen or dashing to a TV studio for work, DeGeneres ends her day with some relaxing reading. "I like to read books that challenge you, that open your eyes and make you look in different directions, maybe see someone else's side," she says. "I like the books that make you realize we're all connected."
