Actress Ellen Pompeo has won many a heart as Dr. Meredith Grey on ABC's hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy. With her congenial smile and unpretentious air, she really is one of TV's most fresh, believable actors. Here she is in all her unpretentious glory, sporting full eyebrows, subtly shiny lips, with the slightest glimmer of coppery pearl twinkling to enhance her eyes. Makeup artist Deborah Grayson tells us how to get her look.
Step 1: Begin by applying a light oil-free moisturizer to the entire face and neck.
Step 2: Use fingertips to apply an oil-free, flesh-colored foundation — start at the center of your face and blend outward. For a gorgeous sheer finish, blend for a second time with a damp makeup sponge.
Step 3: Using a hard-bristled eyebrow brush, firmly brush through brows from roots to end. This will prep brows for eyebrow shadow.
Step 4: Use an extra-firm, slanted shadow brush with blonde brow shadow to fill in any sparse areas of the eyebrow.
Step 5: Hold brows in place by applying clear brow pomade — especially effective for unruly brows.
Step 6: Use your favorite eyelash curler to give lashes a good, hard curl. Hold for an extra definite curve.
Step 7: Use thickening mascara on both upper and lower lashes; dark brown or black will work nicely.
Step 8: Line the entire upper and lower rims of eyes with an intense black eyeliner pencil. To achieve Ellen's look, the line should be slender but dense.
Step 9: Use a soft, oval-headed eyeshadow brush to apply gold shimmering eyeshadow just below the brow bone — think of a half-moon shape. Start at the inner crease and drag the brush outward. Blend back and forth (windshield-wiper style) several times to diffuse.
Step 10: Using fingertips, apply a hint of neutral pink cream blush to the apples of the cheeks and blend upward toward temples.
Step 11: Use a lip brush to apply a sheer, moist blue-pink lip gloss.
