As American Idol fans digest the news that this will be Simon Cowell's final season on the Fox talent competition, new Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres says she's having a hard time with Cowell's decision, too.
"He announced he's leaving on my first day!" the Emmy-winning funny lady said at a taping of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "I'm trying not to take it personally."
"But seriously, I am going to be very, very sad to see him go, because I think he's made the show what it is," she said. "He's a huge part of that show but he wanted a change."
Simon announced Monday that he will be saying goodbye to Idol after this season and moving on to bring the U.K. hit series X Factor to U.S. viewers on Fox.
