Ellie Krieger is the host of the Food Network’s & Cooking Channel’s popular program “Healthy Appetite” and author of the New York Times bestselling and IACP and James Beard Award winning book, The Food You Crave: Luscious Recipes for a Healthy Life. Ellie’s most recent cookbook, So Easy: Luscious Healthy Recipes for Every Meal of the Week, an immediate New York Times bestseller, is a collection of meal solutions for those of us who love food and want to eat well but struggle to make it happen with life’s hectic pace.
A registered dietitian, Ellie has a master’s degree in nutrition from Columbia University and completed her undergraduate degree at Cornell University. Ellie was an adjunct professor at New York University in the Department of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health. In her years in private practice, she counseled a variety of clients, from homemakers and CEOs to notable celebrities.
Ellie has been at the forefront of First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign from the beginning when Mrs. Obama's team personally invited her to head up a nutrition education activity during the “Healthy Kids Fair” at the White House in 2010. Since then, Ellie participated in the launch of the "Chefs Move to Schools" program, where she helped harvest the White House vegetable garden. She has also teamed up with the School Nutrition Association and taken action at a grass roots level with her daughter’s New York City public school. Ellie's mission is to help people of all ages find wellness and balance by enjoying food that is both healthy and delicious, staying active and living well.
