Yamin's initial tweet, made from his hotel room (roughly 90 miles from the quake's epicenter) around 3:30 a.m, read "Huge earthquake just now in Chile!!....I swear I thought this was the end of my life!!!!!"

The singer, who is still currently in Chile, also told his Twitter followers: "Complete and utter choas on the streets...no power...my heart is beatin outta my chest!....tsunami warnin...I am only a mile inland!" "man, situation is grim here!" and "the chilean people r resilient, passionate, and warm people!!...and they are all in my thoughts n prayers."

Yamin also spoke to CNN later, telling them, "the building was swaying back and forth, as was my room." The network reports that, already, hundreds are estimated to have lost their lives as a result of the quake, as aid begins to filter into the areas hardest hit by the disaster. A followup tweet from Yamin reads, "its a miracle im alive in Chile."
