The unlikely friendship between Elton John and Eminem seems to be doing the rapper some good, as Elton has revealed that he is helping Em kick his drug habit.
"I've been helping Eminem over the last 18 months and he's doing brilliantly," the piano man, 62, told BBC Radio on Friday, without going into further detail.
Elton is no stranger to addiction -- he battled alcohol and drug abuse earlier in his career -- but has been sober since the 1980s. Em has been open about his struggle with sleeping pills, for which he entered rehab in 2005, and later told Vibe magazine he would take "10 to 20" Vicodin pills daily. "Valium, Ambien, the numbers got so high I don't even know what I was taking," he said.
But, it seems, Em has had enough and went to his pal for support. "I'm there if people want my help," Elton said in the BBC interview. "If people ask for help you tell them where to go but there's no point advising people if they don't want to do it."
