Emma Watson & Justin Bieber Named Celebs With Most Influential Hair

The Wall Street Journal chose the celebs as the hair trendsetters of the year because "stylists are being inundated with requests"

Move over Jennifer Aniston, there are new hair icons in town! Emma Watson and Justin Bieber have been named the most influential celebrities of 2011 when it comes to popular hairstyles.

In a style retrospective of the year, The Wall Street Journal selected the 21-year-old Harry Potter star's pixie cut and the 17-year-old's swish fringe as the most requested hairdos of the year.

"Hairstylists are being inundated with requests," the paper writes. "The enthusiasm plays out online, where the fastest-rising searches for celebrity haircuts on Google are for Ms. Watson and Mr. Bieber."

Both haircuts mark a fundamental shift in style, The Wall Street Journal reports, because they're considerably shorter than other years' obsession with longer styles, like Aniston's.

"The popularity of the pixie cut is more of a change for women -- for whom short hair hasn't been trendy since the '90s -- than for men, who may justifiably feel sheepish about asking for the cut," the WSJ continues.

The paper also named the Royal Wedding the "Fashion Event of the Year"; Kim Kardashian's wedding "Most Spectacular Bridal Fiasco"; Kanye West's fashion debut "Biggest Runway Flop"; and the frenzy for Missoni for Target "Worst Fashion Sales Strategy."
