Emma Watson may have been the perfect Hermione Granger, but she will not be playing Anastasia Steele, no matter what Fifty Shades of Grey casting rumors have popped up lately.
Reports began to surface last week that the Harry Potter actress, 22, was in talks to star in the upcoming adaptation of E.L. James' best-selling erotic novel. But Watson says the swirling rumors are just plain wrong.
"I haven't read the book, I haven't a read a script, nothing," Watson tells Entertainment Weekly. "There are so many movies you become attached to when I’ve literally never even received a phone call. It was the same way with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo -- I never even saw a script!"
Even the busy British actress' friends and family began to ask her if she was indeed in negotiations to play the young college graduate who falls for Christian Grey, a handsome billionaire with an S&M fetish.
"I told them just because there are 60 articles on the internet doesn’t mean it's any less true than if there are three or four."
Watson, who next appears in The Perks of Being a Wallflower this fall, warns her friends and fans not to believe every rumor about her career: "The thing is I'm not going to go out there every time someone attaches me to a film to say no or release a statement."
