Just like her alter ego Hermione Granger, actress Emma Watson is hitting the books. The Harry Potter star has started her junior year at England's prestigious Oxford University and explained to fans why she'll be out of the limelight for a while as she studies.
Although she is still enrolled at Brown University in Rhode Island, Watson has temporarily transferred her higher education from America's Ivy League to her native England's most storied university. It's a "year abroad" program, but in Watson's case, it's also returning home to the U.K.
"You might not hear from me for a while because I will be really busy studying, but I wanted to just say hi and goodbye," she wrote her fans.
The 21-year-old actress may be a well-respected fashionista, but unlike many former child stars, Watson is paying close attention to her education. After her year in England, it's back to the States for her senior year.
"Then I'll return to Brown to complete my last year," she explained to the Virginian Pilot in July.
Despite her studies, Watson acknowledged her upcoming projects:
"Hope you all like My Week with Marilyn," she added about her role as a wardrobe assistant in the Marilyn Monroe biopic starring Michelle Williams. "I'll keep you posted on [The Perks of Being a Wallflower]!"
