Emma Watson has made the difficult decision to put her education on hold while she focuses on her career. The 19-year-old Harry Potter actress, a sophomore at Brown University, posted a note on her website explaining that she was leaving college -- but not for good.
"As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything," writes the actress, "but recently I've had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible. I've decided to take a bit of time off to completely finish my work on Harry Potter (the last one comes out this summer) and to focus on my other professional and acting projects."
"I will still be working towards my degree... it’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought," Watson adds with a smiley face.
This is not the first time that Watson's role as Hermione Granger has conflicted with her role as an Ivy League student. In November, Watson admitted that she almost left the franchise in 2007 because shooting for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was scheduled during her entrance exams. In the end, Warner Brothers actually changed the shooting schedule to accommodate Watson.
Now, of course, Emma Watson has more than just Harry Potter on her plate. On Friday, the young style icon announced her plans to design an eco-friendly high fashion line for designer Alberta Ferretti. She'll also be starring in a film adaptation of the popular coming-of-age novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and is a rumored contender to star opposite Taylor Lautner in the sci-fi film Incarceron.
Bet Emma Watson wishes she could learn Hermione's being-in-two-places-at-once trick -- but for a Muggle, we think she's balancing everything extraordinarily well!
