Emoji Obsessed? Here's What They'd Look Like in Real Life

Artist Liza Nelson created a set of images that bring the tiny texting tools into the real world

Confession: We’re so obsessed with emojis, we truly don’t know how we communicated before them. And yes, when we’re talking — as in, using our actual voice, not our touch screen — we wish we had emojis to say all the things that words simply can’t.

You might say that artist Liza Nelson is a bit obsessed with the tiny colorful characters too — so much so that she created a set of artworks as an homage. Of her collection of images called “Emoji. IRL. LOL.," she writes, “Emojis mean everything and they mean nothing at the same time. They’re completely personal and completely universal. They’re really quite stupid. And they’re the best thing that ever happened to our generation.”
