I, too, am a baby boomer and I love finding others with similar interests and experiences. It is nice to know that no matter where you are in this world -- there are other parents facing the same issues that you are. For years we identified ourselves by our children and what the kids were doing -- we went to soccer games, swim meets, school concerts and worried about getting them on the bus and off to school -- we knew this day was coming but it seemed so far away!
I like the fact that I know everyone here can share their joys and fears and sadness with others -- and you won't feel like the odd man out!
Besides- I like knowing that I am not the only mother of a college-going boy who won't do laundry!
I love the feeling of camaraderie I get. The feeling that I'm not alone in my feelings and being with people who are at least close to, if not actually, my own age.
One of the things I love about this board is that everyone understands the ramblings of a mom whose kid has left for college. I feel like I can whine and moan and that's ok. It's great having other moms in the same shoes. I love the family feel of 'here'.
