Why you should see it: Set in 1920s Los Angeles, the movie is directed by Clint Eastwood and stars Jolie as a mom whose son is returned to her after being kidnapped. But when she begins to suspect that the child who came back to her isn't her child, authorities have her thrown into an insane asylum to keep the lid on a case of citywide corruption.
Box office bottom line: Jolie's performance and Eastwood's direction sparked Oscar buzz when the movie premiered at Cannes. And since Jolie is that rare mix of tabloid draw and actually talented star, the A-list drama is likely to be a box office and critical hit.
