Why you should see it: It's already so controversial that, during some prerelease screenings, moviegoers reportedly walked out of theaters. Directed by American Beauty and Six Feet Under creator Alan Ball, the Sundance 2008 movie revolves around an Arab-American teen who tries to fit in when she's sent to live with her father in Texas. Her classmates are cruel, her father is super-strict and abusive, and her next-door neighbor is a bigot, which makes things all the more awkward and creepy when she becomes obsessed with him sexually.
Box office bottom line: Expect some box office receipts just for the curiosity factor, but the creepiness factor—Eckhart as a pedophile, for one—will also keep plenty of people away.
