'Grey's Anatomy' Star Eric Dane Checks into Rehab

A rep confirms that the actor voluntarily entered a treatment facility to kick an addiction to pain medication

Grey's Anatomy star Eric Dane (a.k.a. Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloane on the hit ABC series) has checked into a Los Angeles rehab clinic to battle an addiction to painkillers.

"Actor Eric Dane voluntarily checked himself into a treatment facility to help him get off of pain medication that he was prescribed for a sports injury that he suffered over the recent hiatus," Danes spokesperson confirmed in a statement. "He reports back to work next week. Business as usual."

Dane, 38, is married to Rebecca Gayheart, 39, and the couple just announced that they are expecting their second child. Their first child, Billie Beatrice, is 16 months old.

With filming on Grey's Anatomy starting up this week, Dane made the tough decision to enter into a rehab clinic before his schedule got too unmanageable. "Eric felt things spiraling out of control and decided he needed to get some help," a family friend tells Star magazine (via Radar Online). "(He had) too much to lose."
