Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes loves to put her characters through emotional turmoil (case in point: Thursday's finale, which contained near-fatal shootings, a doomed pregnancy and a confession of love). But on her own time, she prefers a more relaxing type of entertainment: ice skating. Rhimes, who calls herself a "crazy, sick, stalker skating fan," celebrated the end of Grey's sixth season by watching gold medalist Evan Lysacek skate in the Smucker's Stars On Ice tour. She's also rooting for Lysacek to win Dancing with the Stars ... and his magnetic TV presence has given her a few ideas.
"I don't know if our hospital needs a skater, but maybe in South America," Rhimes, 40, mused to People. "Somewhere in the middle of the Amazon jungle, there he is." Rhimes' newest medical drama (after Grey's and Private Practice) is Off the Map, set in an underfunded clinic in the South American jungle.
Personally, we like the idea of Lysacek getting a job at Grace-Mercy West Hospital. Mostly because we'd get to give him a funny nickname. (McSkatey? McDancey? McIcey?) He's done some acting in the past, so it's not totally outside the realm of possibility. In the meantime, we're still watching him on Dancing, where he may end up being the third ice skating champion to take home the mirror ball trophy. The finals begin tonight at 8pm.
