It’s hard to imagine shock rocker Marilyn Manson as the paternal type, but Evan Rachel Wood says it’s true. "He had a hand in raising me!" the cover girl of the November issue of Nylon magazine explains. "I’m always gonna love that guy." But after four years of on-and-off dating, the 23-year-old actress says of their decision to end their engagement, "Some things just aren’t meant to be."
The True Blood star, who plays a vampire queen in the hit HBO show, also dished on her nude scene in her other HBO project, the miniseries Mildred Pierce. She credits costar Kate Winslet (who is no stranger to appearing nude on camera) with taking the plunge. "I always had a rule that I was only going to do topless and never the whole package -- I have to have some kind of mystery!" says Wood. "But then she explained to me what a merkin was…" (Let’s say it’s a hairy double that goes over your nether regions.)
Though she's costarred with a slew of A-list names, including Nicole Kidman in 1998’s Practical Magic, Cate Blanchett in 2003’s The Missing, and Gwyneth Paltrow in 2006’s Running With Scissors, it was her movie role in next year’s Farragut North directed by George Clooney that had her the most perplexed. On meeting the actor, Woods says, "He goes, 'You’re really good at going from innocent to sexy in the drop of a hat,' and I was like, 'I don’t know what you’re talking about.'"
