Season Finale Time! Are You Excited for 'Boardwalk Empire' or 'Walking Dead'?

HBO's prohibition drama and AMC's zombie thriller both come to close on Sunday night. Which one are you watching?

What's better than a season finale that rewards faithful viewers with a heart-pounding, hair-raising climax? That's easy: Two of them!

On Sunday night at 9 p.m. ET, HBO's Boardwalk Empire and AMC's The Walking Dead will both close out their seasons with a violent burst of conflict resolution. (In TWD's case, it's a mid-season break.) Of course, you can watch them both with the help of DVR -- but which one will you watch live?

It's been a grim season for both shows. On Empire, Atlantic City political kingpin Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) has morphed into a full-blown gangster, with a growing list of enemies. Over the past weeks, some well-liked characters (including his sassy mistress, Meg Chambers Steedle's Billie, and his trusty wingman, Charlie Cox's Owen) have lost their lives for their association with him. As we roll into the finale, he's gearing up for a fight with the season's cartoonishly evil bad guy, Gyp Rosetti (Bobby Cannavale). Since Rosetti has set up operations at the brothel run by the stridently unbalanced Gillian (Gretchen Mol), the final shootout will inevitably involve key characters like the soulful soldier Richard (Jack Huston), who takes care of Gillian's 6-year-old grandson, Tommy. Watch a foreboding sneak peek here.

Over on The Walking Dead (watch the promo here), the two warring factions of survivors (the group living at the prison and the group living in Dunwoody) will come to blows. Now that Maggie has given up the location of the prison, we can no doubt expect a faceoff between the prison group's leader, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and that conniving Dunwoody leader, The Governor (David Morrissey). But things are complicated by some "good" characters that are in The Governor's thrall, namely Andrea (Laurie Holden) and Daryl's (Norman Reedus) brother Merle (Michael Rooker). In this sneak peek, we see that Andrea still appears to be squarely in The Governor's corner. Then there's the independent-minded Michonne (Danai Gurira), who makes a frightening discovery when she breaks into The Governor's secret room. See the sneak peek here.

Hold on to your seats! Sunday night is going to be a wild ride!
