My toddler won't eat anything with mixed textures. Is that normal?
Yes. Toddlers are separatists when it comes to food. They like each food served by itself
My child has no appetite at mealtime. How can I encourage him to eat then?
You may be able to encourage your child to eat more by setting up structured snack and meal times and by making sure that he's not filling up between meals on things like milk or juice. If meal times are established, you end up eliminating 'grazing', which may inadvertently be affecting his hunger. Another way to entice a finicky eater is to get him involved in the food preparation. Let him bake muffins with you, scramble eggs, blend a milkshake or cut his peanut butter and jelly sandwich with fun cookie cutter shapes. There is nothing better than a sense of pride in one's creation to encourage eating.
