Strategy to Steal: Treat yourself. If losing weight by eating cookies for lunch or dinner sounds too good to be true, that’s because it is: Most women find it impossible to fill up on the recommended serving of these products, says Erin Palinski, a registered dietitian from Franklin, NJ. Still, she adds that doing the opposite, eliminating all sweets when you're trying to lose weight, is not the answer either. In fact, studies show that being too restrictive can actually lead to a diet-sabotaging binge. Instead, Palinski advises allowing yourself one small treat (about 100 calories or less) daily to stay satisfied and on track with your weight-loss plan.
