In her own 1940s bungalow, interior designer Natalie Umbert opted for an eye-popping fuchsia—Benjamin Moore Royal Fuchsia 2078-30—after trying several neutral wall colors that she deemed "forlorn." While the rest of us might be intimidated by such a strong choice, Umbert swears that it can work, "Pair it with clean elements… and add sophisticated pieces to keep it from getting cutesy," she advises.
