The days are getting longer and that means there's more time to pitch a tent in the backyard, catch fireflies, have a water balloon fight -- and do the 28 other fun activities listed here! How many can your family check off your bucket list this summer?
Press Flowers Go on a flower-seeking hike with your crew and pick a wide variety of colorful blooms. But instead of plunking your bouquet in a vase, have your child preserve his or her summer spray by pressing them. Daisies, geraniums or anything full of color and not-too-bulky are the best bets. Start by sorting flowers and place each set between two or three layers of newspaper or plain white paper. Next, open your dictionary to the M's, place your flowers inside and close it shut. To get a good press, stack several more heavy books on top of the dictionary and leave it for about 7 to 10 days. Once the blooms are pressed, you can use them to make bookmarks, cards or (our fave) sun catchers.
