Enjoying the weekend -- or week -- beachside or lakeside? Carve out some special time to create a "sculpture" of the family's faces.
What you'll need:
- Sand toys (shovels, pails, etc.)
- Stones, shells, seaweed, twigs, leaves
What you'll do:
Create a very large sandpile from wet sand -- just above the water line is perfect (make sure the tide is going out, not in, when you start) -- or use buckets to haul water up to a spot further in on the beach. Your very youngest family members will love helping to build such a huge sandpile! Then proceed to carve ovals from the pile for each of your faces -- bigger ones for parents, somewhat smaller ones for kids. Use shells, stones, seaweed, twigs -- whatever you can find on the beach -- to create eyes, noses, mouths and hair. When you're done, be sure to take a picture, and include the real "models" in the shot. (It would make a great holiday-card image, you know.)
