Dinosaur fanatics will enjoy this easy meal of dino-shaped foods. Favorite dinosaurs (stuffed ones, rubber ones... preferably not real ones) can join the family for a dinosaur-themed party, complete with volcano centerpiece. Plates of lettuce will be served for the herbivores.
What you'll need:
- For the meal:
- Dinosaur cookie cutter(s)
- Peanut butter and honey sandwiches or the sandwich of your little paleontologist's choice
- Lettuce or grapes for the dinosaurs For the volcano:
- 2 paper cups
- 1/3 cup baking soda
- 3-5 drops red food coloring
- 1/3 cup white vinegar
What you'll do:
Cut the sandwiches into dinosaur shapes using the cookie cutters. Let your kids set the table and lay out the "food" for the dinosaurs. Meanwhile, make a volcano centerpiece for the middle of the table.
Poke a hole in the bottom of one of the cups; it should be about the size of a dime. Fill the other cup with the baking soda, drop the food coloring onto it and put the cup on a plate. Place the cup with the hole upside down on the baking-soda-filled cup (in other words, the hole should be facing up). Tape the cups together.
When the party is ready to start, pour the vinegar through the hole and watch your volcano erupt. Enjoy your sandwiches, and hopefully the dinosaurs won't be too scared of the volcano to enjoy their meal.
