Family Time Calendar: Get Cooking - iVillage

All the perfect kid-friendly elements are here: sweets, playing with your food, and mess, mess, mess. Instant vanilla pudding can be dyed different colors to make edible, squishy finger paints. You might want to do this outside. In bathing suits. And follow it up with a run through the sprinkler.

What you'll need:

  • 1 box instant vanilla pudding
  • Food coloring
  • Paper plates

What you'll do:

Make the vanilla pudding according to the directions on the box. Divide the pudding into separate bowls or cups, add a few drops of food coloring and let your kids mix away. Then let them go to it, creating edible masterpieces on their paper plates. (Let us sound like your mother and remind you to have the kids wash their hands before painting, on the likely chance they'll want to eat their artwork.)
