Family Time Calendar: Get Cooking - iVillage

Here, all sorts of yummy, summery things are smushed and spooned into a glass by your darling little mess makers, who will enjoy making this treat as much as eating it.

What you'll need:

  • Vanilla-y cookie of your choice (shortbread, vanilla wafers and rich tea biscuits all work well)
  • Plastic zip-top bag
  • Rolling pin
  • Store-bought rice or vanilla pudding
  • Blueberries, washed and dried
  • Clear plastic cups (you can also use your own drinking glasses)

What you'll do:

Put the cookies in a plastic bag and seal it well. Let your little powerhouses smash the cookies up by taking a rolling pin to the bag. The cookies should be broken up into little pea-sized pieces.

Lay out all the ingredients in separate bowls, and start making the parfait. Put a spoonful of cookies in the bottom of a cup, then pudding, then blueberries, then more pudding, then cookies and so on, ending with a mixture of cookies and blueberries on the top. Chill the parfaits for a few hours in the refrigerator to help the flavors blend. Devouring them on the spot is just fine too.
