Are the kids getting a little antsy from staying indoors? Are they spending too much time in front of the television? Get the little couch potatoes up with these quick and easy indoor fitness activities. Even just 15 minutes off the couch is a good physical break!
Start with an easy way to get them off the couch: Roll your child up in a blanket like a stuffed tortilla. Then grab one end of the blanket, shout "Wake up, enchilada!" and give a firm tug to release the kid inside!
Play the classic Follow the Leader and lead kids through the house or even outside. But don't just walk -- wave your arms in circles, hop on one foot, skip, touch your nose with alternating hands, march, ride an invisible horse, walk backwards, crawl, waddle, tap the top of your head, stop and twirl three times in place -- use your imagination!
Play the Mirror Game. Stand in front of your child and move different parts of your body slowly, challenging them to mirror your activities. Switch roles after a while and let your child be the leader.
Play Jump over the Canyon by placing two brooms or yardsticks on the ground, about a foot apart. Kids take turns jumping over the "canyon." Keep moving the sticks farther apart for greater challenges.
Challenge kids to form letters with their bodies, then you guess what letter it is.
Tell everyone to lie down, put their feet in the air and place a pillow on top of their feet. See who can hold the pillow up the longest.
