If cold weather is giving your family a case of cabin fever, bundle up and head outside for a day of winter fun. First stop is an outdoor rink or frozen lake for an ice-skating expedition. (Caution: Be sure to check with your local parks department to make sure the lake is safe to skate on.) Consider giving ice fishing a try, if it's available in your area. If it has snowed recently, head to a nearby hill: It's tobogganing time! Keep your kids safe by having them wear helmets when they're sledding. Older children may also enjoy cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. Had enough of the cold? Warm up your little ones with a comforting cup of hot cider or hot chocolate.
