Everyone loves to get postcards -- even if they're not from some exotic locale. This afternoon, create a quiet activity with the kids by making postcards that show the fun they've been having right here at home, and dash off a quick note on the reverse to grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins -- anyone you wish was there with you.
What you'll need:
Blank postcards
Crayons and markers
Postage stamps
What you'll do:
Give each child several blank postcards and have them draw a picture of what they've been doing this week on the postcards. Younger children may just draw scribbles, but have them tell you what those doodles are -- you can then provide "narration" for the picture on the back side. Older children can write their own notes. And don't forget to do a few yourself -- this might be just the opportunity to get off a quick, fun note to the college roommate you've been meaning to contact for, oh, three months now. Address, stamp and mail them off.
