Family Time Calendar: Get Smart - iVillage

This simple counting game with a pussycat twist helps kids better understand the relationship between numbers and counting.

What you'll need:

  • 5 pieces construction paper
  • Markers and crayons
  • 15 pipe cleaners

What you'll do:

Cut five large cat-head shapes out of construction paper. Let your kids color in the faces and features. While they're busy doing that, have a cup of tea or something nice -- you deserve it, right? Then lay the cat heads next to each other and put a number under each face, starting with 1 and ending with 5. Let the kids give each kitty a corresponding number of pipe cleaner "whiskers."
