In this game, the kids will get to "park" their "cars" in assigned, numbered parking spaces. While this counting exercise may give your kids an unreasonable view of the world (so many free parking spaces!), it's sure to help them understand their numbers better.
What you'll need:
- 20 pieces colored construction paper
- Toy car for each child
- Masking tape (optional)
What you'll do:
Number 20 pieces of construction paper from 1 to 20. Lay them down on the floor as if you're laying out a parking lot. Let each child choose a car (you can mark the child's initial on the top with masking tape). Then assign each kid a parking space number for his or her car, and see if the kids can get their cars into the right spaces. They'll love driving round and round with each new number you assign them. For really young kids who might be playing along with older siblings, assign parking spaces based on color.
