Feel like it's been a while since you've had a get-together, but you don't have the energy to put on something big? Invite a few of your favorite families over for an easy brunch and family "pajama play date." Planning is simple: Call two to three of your favorite friends with kids, and ask them to come over to just lounge around (kids can come in pajamas). Assign each something to bring, focusing on easy, pick-'em-up-on-the-way treats: bagels with cream cheese and fish, coffee cake, a fruit platter. That morning, get several copies of the paper for the adults, put on the coffee (mix up a pitcher of Bloody Marys as well if that's your style); and heat up a pot of hot chocolate for the kids. Set food out buffet-style and let the kids spread out with toys while the adults kick their heels up with the paper. Let everyone nosh at will and let the crumbs fall where they may. Pull out a few games, such as Pictionary, Cranium and Scrabble, or work on the Sunday crossword as a group. Just enjoy the act of hanging around -- together.
