It's been a rough few weeks for Fantasia Barrino, to say the least. But the American Idol champ -- who reportedly attempted suicide after accusations surfaced that she was involved with a married man -- is ready to get her life back on track.
The 26-year-old single mom, who was released from the hospital last week, is attempting to move on by promoting her upcoming album, Back To Me. According to MTV, Barrino (whose "Bittersweet" currently sits at #10 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart) will make stops at at Good Morning America (August 24), Lopez Tonight (Aug. 25), and Live With Regis and Kelly (Sept. 9), amongst others.
"I can't thank my fans enough for their prayers and support during such a challenging time," Barrino said in a statement. "It has given me the motivation to get back to work and honor the commitments I made to promote Back to Me. I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this album and I pray that everyone enjoys it as much as I do."
Barrino's record label, J. Records, stated in a press release that the singer has a "renewed commitment to her music and her fans." Brian Dickens, Barrino's manager expressed to MTV in a statement, "She has been lifted up by the outpouring of love and support from her fans. She is more committed than ever to her daughter and her work because they are her heart, her soul and inspiration."
Of course, Barrino isn't the only one trying to move forward from the shocking news. People reports that Paula Cook, the wife of the man Barrino allegedly had an affair with, feels "embarrassed" and "humiliated" by the very public situation. Cook is currently "weighing her options" to possibly sue Barrino, perhaps under the "home wrecker" law.
