So Long, 'Desperate Housewives'! We'll Miss You!

After eight years, the well-heeled ladies of Wisteria Lane are bidding everyone adieu on Sunday -- and we're certain they won't go quietly!

After eight campy years of black humor and white hot sex scenes, ABC's Desperate Housewives will take its final bow at 9 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 13.

Since its inception, Wisteria Lane has opened its doors to scores of talented guests, from Alfre Woodard to Dana Delany to Drea de Matteo to Vanessa Williams. But the finale will focus on the original four central characters: Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher), Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman), Bree Van De Kamp (Marcia Cross) and Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria).

These four, of course, are the friends and neighbors of Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong). The show began the day that Mary Alice killed herself; she's been cagily narrating their secret stories ever since. The series finale will wrap up their latest dramas -- and with these ladies, the dramas are always huge. Will Bree be convicted of murder? Will Lynette and Tom (Doug Savant) reconcile? (This promo clip doesn't bode well on that one:

And based on this other sneak peek, the terminally ill Mrs. McCluskey will get her usual share of clever one-liners. When the housewives offer to care for her so that she can die at home, she replies that they have problems of their own. "Bree's got her trial," she says. "Lynette's marriage is falling apart. Gaby, those kids of yours are turning into serial killers before our very eyes."

The real charm of this show has always been its sly humor, even in the face of death (or death-like embarrassment). Here's a clip of the show's funniest quips, selected by viewers. As the show draws to a close, here's a look back at five of its most memorable moments.

-The cheeky and undeniably intriguing opening moments of season one, episode one. Who could resist a show that starts with a woman playfully recounting her suicide?

-After a murderous sociopath shoots her frenemy Nora (Kiersten Warren), Lynette tells the gun-slinging killer that "maybe you deserved to be cheated on."

-Gaby takes on nuns! Her aggression towards them stemmed from when she was a schoolgirl and revealed to them that she had been raped. Nobody believed her -- one of the nuns blamed her "big imagination" which likely came from "trashy books and magazines" -- and, boy, did Gaby hold a grudge. Watch her get into a hair-pulling match with another sister, in a church no less!

-A tornado strikes Wisteria Lane -- and that's the least of these peoples' problems. The haunting music was thread within scenes of natural destruction, people being killed and realizing that their utopian neighborhood had been leveled. It's chilling!

-Nothing says happy holidays like a bloody plane crash! Of course, this happened directly on Wisteria Lane during the neighborhood's annual Christmas party, killing Susan's ex-husband Karl Mayer (Richard Burgi).

We'll miss the drama, we'll miss the ladies and we'll definitely miss the mystic nature of Wisteria Lane, where anything could happen at any moment! So long, Desperate Housewives. Thanks for the memories!
